How to Fish: Bowlfish — Bait, Island & Price
Bowlfish is one of the three Desert Island quest catches that trade for the Carrot, and it is the most valuable of the three at a $150 base price.
| Island | 3. Desert |
|---|---|
| Bait | Standard Lure ($15) |
| Base sale price | $150 |
| Base weight | 12 kg |
| Health | 160 HP |
| Fights back | No, it does not attack players |
| Endangered | No |
| Quest creature | Yes — keep it for an island hand-in |
How to catch Bowlfish
- Get to Desert Island and equip the Standard Lure ($15) on the Fishing Rod.
- Catch a normal, non-Drip Bowlfish. It shares the Standard Lure pool with nine other creatures, so several casts are normal.
- Trade it to the tourist NPC. Any one of Bowlfish, Needlefish or Seahorse completes the request — you do not need all three.
- Keep the Carrot you receive. It only works on the Pufferfish and is consumed whether or not the boss dies.
What Bowlfish is for
Carrot trade, and money. At $150 it is the best-paying of the three accepted creatures, so if you happen to catch a second one, selling it is not a waste.
Common mistakes
- Assuming all three creatures are required. The tourist accepts one.
- Fighting it with a fresh character at close range. Bowlfish has 160 health and 12 kg of base weight, which is more than the Forest Island catches you are used to.
Quick answers
Do I need Bowlfish, Needlefish and Seahorse?
No. The desert request accepts any one normal (non-Drip) endangered Seahorse, Needlefish or Bowlfish.
How much does a Bowlfish sell for?
Base price is $150 with a 12 kg base weight, which makes it one of the better Desert Island sellers after the Seahorse trade is done.
