How to Fish: Bing Bong — Bait, Island & Price

Bing Bong is the hardest non-boss fight in How to Fish: 2,000 health, 75 damage per hit, and it only bites on Coconut bait. It is endangered, so it is not a boss and not a free kill.

Island 4. Rocks
Bait Coconut ($350)
Base sale price $300
Base weight 5 kg
Health 2000 HP
Fights back Yes — 75 damage per hit
Endangered Yes — expect the Endangered Species prompt
Quest creature Yes — keep it for an island hand-in

How to catch Bing Bong

  1. Buy Coconut bait on Rocks Island for $350. Bing Bong is the only creature in the game that takes it, and the coconut is always consumed.
  2. Because the bait is unique to this creature, a coconut in the water means Bing Bong specifically — you will not waste it on a common catch.
  3. Bait, hook, and kill it from range. At 75 damage per hit it out-damages most story bosses, and its health pool is larger than the Albatross.
  4. Expect the Endangered Species prompt. That is the game telling you the catch is on the protected list, not that it is glitched.

What Bing Bong is for

Bing Bong carries the quest-item flag and it is one of the few endangered creatures outside the Desert Island carrot trade, so it feeds an island hand-in rather than the shop.

Common mistakes

  • Trying it with the pistol or brass knuckles. 2,000 health at 75 incoming damage per hit is not a melee fight.
  • Buying the coconut without a plan for where you will fight it. Rocks Island is vertical, and you want the fight away from the water so the body cannot drift back.

Quick answers

Which bait does Bing Bong take?

Coconut, $350 on Rocks Island. It is the only creature in the game on that bait, so it cannot be substituted.

Is Bing Bong a boss?

No. It is a normal creature with boss-sized numbers. It does not drop a story trophy and it does not open the next island.

Bing Bong on Rocks Island

Bing Bong is listed under island 4 in the five-island campaign order. The island walkthrough covers the local quest, the shop stock, and the boss you have to beat before the next island opens. Full Rocks walkthrough
